Universal Design is based upon the understanding that the needs of people change over the course of their lives. Families grow and evolve and special needs arise. Simply put, life is change. Good design seamlessly adapts to change.
Universal Design takes into consideration the needs of the youngest child to the oldest visitor. Lighting, walkways, handles, switches, cabinets, furniture, floor coverings, color... all of these become a part of creating an environment that will best serve whoever visits the home, best adapt to whatever change may come.
